Pyrolytic Depolymerization Mechanisms for Post-Consumer Plastic Wastes

Fast pyrolysis of five post-consumer plastic waste materials was studied using coupled with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) technique. Prescription medicine bottles, landfill liners, and one type industrial represented polyolefin-based polymers, whereas packaging material polystyrene, other polyurethane. The noncatalytic catalytic degradation mechanisms all wastes were elucidated. experiments conducted at a temperature 600 °C for residence time 5 min. For pyrolysis, spent FCC catalyst utilized sulfated zirconia-based polyurethane, Y-zeolite used polyolefinic waste. results suggested that the thermal reaction has higher monomeric oligomeric selectivity than reaction. Results from runs showed addition catalysts greatly influences product compositions significant effect on specific compound. One wastes, liner, selected batch scale 420–440 as to demonstrate properties potential use liquid formed. complete distribution crude oil performed followed by distillation produce aviation range fuel. fuel examined, fraction can be easily blended commercially available fuels direct applications.
